Using zero waste principles, DevouGrass sent 75% less waste to the landfill in 2017 over 2016.

Introducing the Zero Waste Way

The Zero Waste Way is a Renaissance Covington-led  initiative funded by the Greater Cincinnati Foundation. It is a pilot project to inform how we manage and minimize our waste  produced at special events and festivals in Covington, KY. The ZWW is a collaboration between Renaissance Covington, the Devou Good Project, and Keep Covington Beautiful, and Go Zero.  The goal is to develop best practices with available local resources to minimize or completely stop any festival trash or waste from going to landfills. DevouGrass 2017 was proud to be the first test festival for this project and we look forward to furthering our goals in 2018.

How Does It Work?

We work with our vendors to make sure we understand the types of waste their products make and offer compostable alternatives wherever we can. On the day of the event, volunteers will be on hand to make sure you have help in knowing in which receptacle your waste goes. After DevouGrass, Go Zero is engaged to pickup compostables and Rumpke will pickup recycling.
